Duckling Hill - Publication

The People of Duckling Hill is a research publication documenting the informal appropriation of an urban hillside embedded within the high-density new town of Tseung Kwan O, Hong Kong. Through field observation, mapping, drawings, and interviews, the publication examines how local residents have gradually transformed the hill into a shared landscape through self-built paths, shelters, gardens, and ritual spaces. Focusing on everyday practices and non-professional interventions, the publication reveals Duckling Hill as a lived buffer zone shaped by care, ecological knowledge, and collective identity, offering an alternative perspective on people-centered urban landscape formation.
