Lot 313 - Peng Chau Residence - Research
Lot 313 investigates architectural scale on liminal sites through the design of a three-story apartment block on Peng Chau Island. Conceived as an articulated threshold rather than a detached object, the building maximizes spatial freedom within the constraints of a narrow shophouse parcel. Core utilities are pushed to the periphery, allowing flexible central living voids to emerge. A one-meter-wide climatic buffer mediates between interior space and the local environment, while a shelf-like concrete structural system replaces conventional walls, enabling spatial continuity, adaptability, and stronger integration with the surrounding urban fabric. This research is further developed in Looking for the Voids.
