Sharjah Urban Thresholds - Teaching

The Sharjah Urban Thresholds studio inquired into liminal spaces and urban life across the spatial and cultural contexts of Sharjah. It explored the notion of thresholds, focusing on interfaces between interior and exterior, public and private, and built and open spaces, grounded in careful analysis of four Sharjah neighbourhoods. Drawing from this research, students proposed a collective infrastructure for each neighbourhood. Each project imagined a large building functioning as a mini-neighbourhood, examining how spatial, climatic, and social boundaries shape transitions between interior and exterior, public and private, and built and open environments.
