Seoul Mini-Mountains - Teaching
Seoul Mini-Mountains was a research-led teaching framework and a Master Design Studio developed within the Inhabitable Territories seminar, exploring Seoul’s unbuilt topographical fragments as critical urban thresholds. Set at the interface between city and hillside, the studio investigated how residual mountains functioned as ecological buffers, cultural landscapes, and spaces of everyday use within a dense metropolitan environment. Through fieldwork, observation, drawing, and architectural design, students examined how natural and artificial systems interlocked across scales. Rather than treating the city as a continuous built surface, the studio proposed alternative readings of Seoul grounded in voids, slopes, and the lived experience of urban terrain.
