Wut Tung Sat - Research
Wut Tung Sat (meaning “activity room”) is a research project and open platform on Peng Chau Island designed to explore the articulation of space through a series of "spatial experiments". Functioning as a laboratory, it transformed a ground-floor unit into a threshold that mediates between the village’s dense alleyways and sparse open squares. For over two years, the space hosted community-driven activities—from permaculture workshops to artist residencies—enabling a dual role as both architect and user. This immersion allowed for a deep reflection on design principles centered on experience, questioning the process of making architecture through a series of iterations.
Location: Peng Chau Island
Project duration: 2017 - 2019
Principal Investigator: Géraldine Borio
Research Assistants: Tiffany Yuen, Anakin Poon
